2 Ways to Change Author Name in Blogger or BlogSpot

You can change Author Name in Blogger by 2 ways. One is edit Blogger user profile Display name and second is static author name in Blogger template.

Way #1: Edit Blogger’s user profile Display name

Change author name from edit blogger profile is simple and suggested solution. By following below steps, you can get your new author name in blog/blogs.

1. Sign in to Blogger with blogger account.
2. Open “Settings” from left sidebar.
3. Click “User profile” under General section: it will open “Edit User Profile” page.
4. Go to “Identity” section.
5. Set new author name in “Display name” option.
6. Scroll down and click “Save profile” button.
7. That’s it.

Note: This “Display name” value change is common for all your Blogger/BlogSpot blogs (old comments may still contain your previous name). For example, your one Google account has 5 blogger blog. Suppose, you changed that account’s Blogger profile “Display name”, now, new author name will show in all 5 blogs as post author.

Way #2: Set static author name in Blogger template

Set static author name in Blogger template is very old and known solution. This solution still works in Blogger old templates. Unfortunately this solution not applicable for new responsive blogger templates. New templates have new tags for author name and [Way #2] not works for it.

Reasons to use this solution: Blogger user wants to change author name without change profile “Display name”. Blogger have multiple Blogger blogs and want to show separate author name in each blog.

1. Sign in to Blogger with blogger account.
2. Open “Theme” setting from left sidebar.
3. Click on three vertical dots option: It will open template options.
4. Select “Edit HTML” option.
5. Set static author name in template:
   • Old template: click in code textarea, press “Ctrl + F“, Search <data:post.author/> and replace it with [Your new Author name]. In short, you need to <data:post.author/> code with [Your new Author name] in HTML template.
   • New template: author name tag changed in new template and best working solution for static author name not available. You need to use [Way #1] in new blogger template.
6. Click “save icon” button, after complete process.
